Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Campaign

A “pink-ribbon” seminar for raising awareness against breast cancer has been organized last Thursday Nov. 3, 2016 by Faculty of Medical Sciences in conjunction with National Cancer Control Association (NCCA).

The event took place as part of the pink-ribbon campaign for breast cancer awareness that casts the light on the symptoms and reasons of the disease. It also intends to provide the necessary means of control and protection due to the alarming outbreak of breast cancer in Yemen.

In her key speech, Dr. Jameelah El-Surmi (a consultant at Life Centre for Breast Tumor Early Detection) stressed on the importance of having regular check-ups. For, the early diagnosis of the disease improves the chances of its treatment.

Dr. Jameelah pointed out that a number of awareness-raising functions are regularly conducted either at the NCCA or in collaboration with other institutions to raise the public education against breast cancer. She availed herself of the occasion to thank Al-Nasser University for hosting the present event.

For his part, Dr. Yassir El-Madhaji (Head Pharmacy Dept.) noted that educating people about such diseases help limit their multi-caused spread. It further ensures the necessary control lest the disease develops into a costly chronic phase.

He invites the participants in the seminar to committedly convey the seminar’s message across the community. He pointed out to Al-Nasser’s leading part in holding such charity and health education events as supporting cancer and real failure patients.

Attendees to the event that was held at the Grand Hall, Faculty of Medical Sciences, include: Dr. Abdulkareem El-Zumor (FMS Dean), Dr. Yassir El-Madhaji (Head of Pharmacy Dept.), Dr. Lamya El-Akhali (Academic & Administrative Superintendent) in addition to a gathering of the college’s she-students.
