Saturday, 01 October 2016

The second issue of the Journal of Environment and Sustainable Development Studies has been published. This is an international refereed journal published semi-annually by Arab Association for Environmental Studies in conjunction with Al-Nasser University—Yemen.

The Journal is principally concerned with the scholarly studies in the field of environment and sustainable development. The papers accepted for publication are subject to a peer review process and must meet the scholarly standards.

The first volume of the current issue included the following topics:

  • The Development of Yemen’s Public Education System in the Light of the Japanese Experience.
  • The Scientific Steps for Building Strategic Vision & Mission and their Role in Developing the Organizations’ Performance.
  • The Role of E-government in the Sustainable Arab Development.
  • Supra Semi-a-open Sets.
  • Study of the Negative Biotic Factors Affecting the Survival of Dragon Blood Tree (Dracaena cinnabari Balf: Daraceanaceae) in Socotra Island, Yemen.
  • Environmental Impact Assessment of Desalination Technology and its Relationship with Pre-processing Merits.

Dr. Abdullah Tahish (University Chancellor and Journal’s Editor) stated that the last issue comprising twelve volumes had been published for the past six years by Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils (FASRC) in Khartoum.

He noted that since the journal’s scope is environment and sustainable development they had an agreement with FASRC upon which the Arab Association for Environmental Studies located in Yemen was endorsed to publish it in conjunction with Al-Nasser University. “Today,” he maintained, “the current issue is launched in Yemen with the Federation’s blessing. Such an international refereed journal would be a valuable addition to the Association’s as well as Al-Nasser’s academic progress. It gives Yemeni and Arab researchers an opportunity to publish their studies.”
