Capstone Projects’ Viva at FMS: Fifth Scholarly Week
Sponsored by Al-Nasser University’s board, the fifth scholarly week started its first session at Faculty of Medical Sciences last Sunday, Sep 24, 2017. Students of Pharmacy, Laboratories, Public Health, and Nursing turned up for the viva voce of their graduation capstone projects of the academic year 2016/2017.
The session opened with the national anthem and Quran recitation. Thereafter, Dr. Abdulkareem El-Zumor (FMS’ Dean) delivered a speech in which he thanked the University’s board for their support to FMS. He noted to the high quality of the presented research projects. Such quality studies, he said, have to be backed towards improving the national industry.
The Chancellor also gave a speech by which he praised the students’ distinct studies that meet the labor market’s requirements in different fields. He felt happy with the FMS’ continuous success in scientific research. In addition, the Chancellor referred to the long way gone by the University toward the research progress observed as the second main goal and that got reflected in the outstanding researches presented by students.
Furthermore, he praised the FMS’ outcomes that leave a good impression of Al-Nasser University at the labor market. Confirming the University’s quest for prominence in quality and academic accreditation, he pointed to the plan of setting up a research lab in FMS.
Many medical topics and health products were included in the presented research projects supervised by dean, heads of departments and faculty members.
The viva sessions were conducted in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Saif Muharram (CBT), Prof Abdullah Tahish (the Chancellor), FMS’ Dean, Director of Quality Unit, heads of departments, research supervisors, staff members, and a large number of FMS’ students.
The students made presentations about the topics of their respective researches that were thereafter evaluated by the committee who posed questions and doubts to be clarified by students.
According to Mr. Ahmed Mahoub (Director of Research & Training at FMS), the researches to be presented throughout the week are typically distinguished as they signify a valuable addition to the University’s academic archive.
Organized by the Department of Research & Training, the viva sessions are to be held daily for a week at the FMS’ grand hall.
