Al-Nasser Once Again: Initiative for Humanity

Sunday, 15 May 2016

A delegation membered by Al-Nasser staff and students conducted a visit last Saturday to El-Amal Psychiatric Hospital at Safyah, Sana’a. The visit took place in continuation of the University’s initiative to support psychotics that embarked with a charity bazaar under the slogan

"initiative for humanity" the proceeds of which went to the asylum’s inpatients.

The delegation comprised: Mr. Ali El-Thayfani, the Secretary General, Dr. Moh’d El-Kuhali, Dean of the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Studies, and a number of FAFS students. Upon arrival, the delegation was welcomed by Dr. Sami El-Shara’abi, the Hospital’s Director along with a number of specialists.

After being briefed on the various facilities and services provided by the Hospital’s different departments, the delegation listened to Psychologist Samira El-Awlaki’s explanation of the mechanism by which patients are admitted, diagnosed, and treated.

On behalf of the University, the Secretary General presented food supplies and other provisions to the asylum’s patients. He noted that such an initiative is part of the humanitarian and social commitments that every individual, institution, and org should shoulder responsibly.

He maintained that educational institutions and universities must provide the necessary support to mental cases as well as contribute to raising the public awareness in this regard.

For his part, the Hospital’s Director highly appreciated Al-Nasser’s kind support to psychotics, particularly in the midst of the community’s

negative view of them. He pointed out that Al-Nasser is the first university that takes such a step. He appealed to the community to help the mental patients hopefully rejuvenate.

The students emphasized that their voluntary participation in such humanitarian activities is part of the commitment to their community and people.
